Central Organisation of Trade Union secretary-general Francis Atwoli has added his voice to growing calls for dialogue between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.

''But eventually they need to come together, otherwise, there will be no organisations, there will be no country, there will be no room for doing politics.'' Mr. Atwoli warned.

The remarks come in the wake of the opposition's insistence that there will be no turning back on its plan to swear in Raila Odinga as president, a move that the government has warned would be treasonous.

Odinga met this week at his Capitol Hill offices with a delegation comprising foreign diplomats, religious leaders, and members of the private sector.

The United States has asked Odinga to shelve his swearing-in plans and engage in dialogue instead.

Kenya continues to reel from a political crisis that appears to have no end in sight.
