The Central Organization of Trade Unions (Cotu) has faulted the government for allegedly failing to put measures to ensure the current nationwide doctors' and nurses strike is mitigated.
Cotu secretary general Francis Atwoli criticised the Jubilee government for ignoring the strike notice that was issued 21-days before the strike, only to start rushing to hold meetings at the last minute, when the strike has commenced.
He said top government officials failed to communicate to him as the workers president on time with aims to avert the strike, only to seek his assistance when it is too late.
"I told them that the nurses and doctors are serious about their strike but they took it as a joke. Instead of coming to me on time to help them, they ignored me, only to come back a day before the strike kicks off, asking for my assistance. They called me when it was too late. Now I can not help them,'' he said, Monday.
According to Atwoli, the current government is 'too big for everybody', and does not consult on issues affecting the Country.
"Daniel arap Moi used to negotiate and consult on time, Jomo Kenyatta too. But this government is too big for everybody. They think they can do everything by themselves. Too bad,'' he added.
