Cotu Secretary General Francis Atwoli has been handed the role to spearhead talks between the government and striking doctors.

This is after the trade union boss appealed to the court to suspend a jail sentence on doctors and allow him to lead fresh talks between the two sides.

Upon receiving the authority, Atwoli said that the new phase of negotiations would be transparent and straightforward.

According to Atwoli, Cotu had desisted from the talks earlier because it wanted to allow the concerned parties resolve the matter between themselves first.
