The Central Organisation of Trade Union's secretary-general Francis Atwoli has lashed out at Kenya Airways CEO Mikosz over the sacking of 131 striking maintenance engineers.Atwoli argued that the sack flew in the face of the law as the industrial action is protected by the law. What Sebastian Mikosz ought to be focusing on is how to reach an amicable resolution of outstanding issues.''"Mikosz should also be assuring customers and KCAA of the safety of the aircraft, considering over 30 per cent of its 600 workers in the technical department have downed their tools. The CEO neither consulted nor engaged the two unions in the sector while making the decision to illegally fire the employees," a seething Atwoli said, according to the Star newspaper. This is not the first time that Atwoli has criticised the KQ boss, three months ago he hit out at Mikosz for sourcing KQ staff from Poland, a move that he contended would deny qualified Kenyans jobs.Atwoli is set to hold a meeting with the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, Kenya Airports Authority, and Kenya Airways workers today. The sacking of the maintenance engineers is expected to feature in the discussions.
