COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli now wants President Uhuru Kenyatta to continue serving even after expiry of his second term in 2022.

In remarks that have since elicited sharp reaction from among Kenyans, Atwoli wants the constitution amended to accommodate state officers who exit office at tender age.

Also the flamboyant trade unionist said the move would allow an all inclusive government where other communities feel part of the system.

"There is need to amend the constitution so that we remove sections which have made governing the country impossible.

"People like Uhuru Kenyatta should not retire at that age. They should be allowed to continue serving," he said.

Understandably, the opposition team NASA is calling for fundamental changes in governance that could tilt government system.

However, DP Ruto has been on the front line opposing the changes on grounds that they will sabotage service delivery.
