COTU boss Francis Atwoli now wants NASA alliance to postpone the planned swearing-in of it's leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking in a press conference in Nairobi Friday, Atwoli urged the alliance to shift the date for the controversial event dated for December 12 to give room for deliberations.

He said that the ongoing political animosity and tension could further worsen after the inauguration, adding that both the NASA and Jubilee sides should lower themselves for the sake of the country.

''Raila Odinga and his team should consider moving the event date further down the calendar to at least give room for deliberations that could possibly save the nation from the bad direction it is taking,'' he said.

''I know that am not competent enough to advise either Raila Odinga or President Uhuru Kenyatta but am entitled to my own opinion. I am also speaking on behalf of workers who have also expressed their concerns on the current situation,'' he added.

He also observed that the nation is set to further suffer economically should the issue not be looked into the soonest possible.

''This is a big worry to workers and Kenyans at large as it has pushed the nation to the losing end and has frightened a big number of investors who were eyeing the nation as their possible destination into looking for alternative places. We need a peaceful nation,'' said Atwoli.

The alliance has however maintained that it will not back down in its plans.
