Central Organisation of Trade Unions (Cotu -K) has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to constitute his full Cabinet. S

peaking in Nairobi during the launch of Cotu strategic plan 2018-2022, secretary general Francis Atwoli urged the President to name the remaining Cabinet Secretaries without waiting for advice from some quarters.

“President Uhuru should constitute his complete Cabinet, he is taking too long. I appeal to the President to move with speed and not wait for advisers to tell you who to pick and who to leave out, the country needs a fully-fledged government,” he said.

The trade unionist said there is need for the country to have Cabinet Secretaries even if they may not be that perfect adding that it is better to have a bad government than not to have a government at all.

At the same time, he appealed to the Head of State and National Super Alliance (Nasa) leader Raila Odinga to embrace dialogue for the interest of peace and tranquility saying that their hardline positions affect Kenyans’ welfare especially women, children, and workers.

Atwoli called on the two leaders to stop chest thumping but consider that Kenya is greater than any individual. “Kenya is bigger than all of us. Our leaders have no option but to dialogue, I am not saying they must agree or share positions, No.

We don’t want to compare Kenya with countries in turmoil, therefore, I urge all our leaders to embrace talks aimed at restoring peace and unity among Kenyans,” he said. Atwoli warned leaders against 2022 campaigns saying they should concentrate on issues affecting the country ensure they deliver the promises they made to Kenyans.

“Don’t plan for 2022, plan for political stability in our country right now. It is time to ensure that Kenyans needs are catered for and emphasis should be given to the current issues affecting the country like political stability and not 2022 politics,” he said.
