Speaking at Mukuyuni Catholic church in Kaiti, Makueni County, Atwoli said the Health Cabinet Secretary Cleopa Mailu and his Principal Secretary Nicholas Muraguri are the ones to blame for the standoff  between doctors and the government.

“There is infighting in the ministry of health and that is why we have been unable to agree on the doctors pay. I urge President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene and separate the minister and the principal secretary,” Atwoli said as quoted by the Star.

“I had asked the doctors to accept the offer proposed by the government first then come with fresh demands afterward, but because somebody somewhere was inciting them, they refused the offer,” he added

According to Atwoli, the PS has been inciting the medics against CS Mailu to portray him as incompetent so that the CS is impeached.

He also urged the doctors to accept the offer given by the government and go back to work as the negotiations continue.
