Cotu Secretary General Francis Atwoli has warned county executives against entering into early campaign moods, saying the move could hurt the economy in the already malnourished counties.
Atwoli added that early campaigns will widely send the counties into early election fevers and eventually derail the county governments in delivering on key services to Kenyans.
The Cotu boss, however, faulted the Jubilee administration over claims that it had massively failed to deliver vital services to the citizens during the first four years of its tenure.
The Unionist also singled out the popular speech by the Deputy President during the recent launch of the Jubilee party, saying it was an indictment on the failure of the Jubilee government to deal with the challenges bedeviling workers.
“I want to advise my brother William Ruto that any speech delivered without addressing the plights of the low earning workers of this country will automatically disqualify such a government from amassing support from the workers,” said Atwoli.
And in what is seen as an apparent reference to the ongoing electoral reforms, the Cotu boss maintained that workers’ unions had the much needed muscle to block the general elections upon any suspicions that they would never be conducted in a free and fair exercise.
