Atwoli has also challenged the president to weigh advices brought to him by advisors before implementation them.

This comes after Governor Hassan Joho of Mombasa and his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi reportedly had their security details withdrawn by the government without explanations.

“The president risks losing popularity if he continues engaging in petty politics. He always implements advices which sometimes are unnecessary and uncalled for,” said Atwoli.

“As a president, he should be a unifying factor and we expect him to carefully examine some of the advices he is given before implementing them. He will regret in August if this trend continues,” he added.

He challenged President Kenyatta to order immediate reinstatement of the two coastal governors security details before the crisis escalates.
