Cotu Secretary General Francis Atwoli has warned President Uhuru Kenyatta against intimidating independent bodies.

In a statement on Monday, Atwoli termed Uhuru's recent attacks and a section of Jubilee leaders on the Judiciary as "regrettable", warning that such utterances could throw the country into anarchy.

He further challenged the Head of State to live up to his oath of office to uphold the Constitution and the rule of law.

"The Presidency is the highest office in the land and any utterance coming from him will have far-reaching implications compared to any other office nor individual," Atwoli said.

"We expect the President to be above such and continue to live up to his oath of office to protect our Constitution while respecting separation of powers and the independence of our Judiciary," he added.
