Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU ) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta to take stern action against corrupt officials in his government.
He warned the Jubilee Party Leader that perpetrators of graft in his government might rock his 2017 re-election bid.
“When you have thieves in your house and you don’t complain, people might also take you for a thief, ”Atwoli warned.
The outspoken COTU boss claimed that Kenyans are losing hope in Jubilee administration due to its inability to tame corrupt individuals implicated in mega scandals.
"It is high time you (Uhuru) make personal decisions and get rid of corrupt individuals in your government even if they are your friends," said Atwoli.
He added: "Kenyans including your supporters are concerned over the rising graft in government. They might decide to stop them by not reelecting you in 2017."
Since coming to power in 2013, the Jubilee administration has been hit by suspected mega scams, among them the Sh1.6 billion NYS and Afya House scandals.
The Opposition led by CORD leader Raila Odinga has been using corruption as a key campaigning tool to dislodge Jubilee from power in 2017.
Raila has maintained that Uhuru is unwilling to fight graft in the government as he is allegedly a beneficiary of the stolen funds.
