Atwoli says the IEBC should not be influenced by Jubilee or NASA, and wants the electoral body to hold a meeting with stakeholders to iron out issues in the run up to the polls, to ensure it is fair and free.

“We want peaceful elections, we don’t want demonstrations, and this is a civilized nation. Kenya is a serious nation we have produced so many credible and academically qualified Kenyans who understand the law and the environment in which we operate,” he said.

His sentiments come amid talks of the electoral body not well prepared for the election on October 17, an issue that has raised talks of having a constitutional crisis.

NASA coalition has also maintained that if their demands are not met, they will boycott the October polls.

A series of meetings are said to have been held from Friday through Saturday by key stakeholders including the IEBC, as they tried to find a solution to avert a constitutional crisis in case the election will not be held as earlier planned.

The French firm providing the country with the electronic system has indicated that there is limited time between now and the October 17 date, to fully back up date from the last polls and prepare for fresh elections.
