Central Organization of Trade Union (Cotu) secretary general Francis Atwoli has sent Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale a political advice.
The senator has declared interest in Kakamega governor seat, occupied by incumbent Wycliffe Oparanya.
Speaking on Citizen TV on Wednesday evening, Atwoli said in the Western region, only three people have a say on matters politics.
He said without the support of National Super Alliance co-principal Musalia Mudavadi, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula and Governor Oparanya, one cannot win votes in Western.
“If you looked at the ratings by University of Nairobi, there are only three key people in the Luhya community. Even if you are the President, you cannot penetrate and get votes without the support of Mudavadi, Oparanya and Wetangula,” he said.
On Khalwale’s bid to unseat Oparanya, Atwoli said it will be very difficult for the bull fighter to beat Oparanya.
“Khalwale is a very intelligent guy. I do like him, he is very brave. After Martin Shikuku (the late), he is doing what Shikuku used to do, he can face anybody at any time…you must do a lot of overhaul to remove a sitting MCA, governor and MP. Oparanya has done a lot since 2013,” said the outspoken Cotu boss.
He, however, said Khalwale has the democratic right to vie for any elective seat.
