The African Union has given its report on the just given its report on the just concluded repeat presidential elections.
Speaking to journalists in Upperhill, the observer mission led by former South Africa's president Thabo Mbeki reported that the process followed the law and the stipulated rules according to the constitution.
The mission, however, noted the low voter turn out in the election owing it to the security situation in the country.
The Mission also confirmed that the figures at the national tallying center reflected what they observed on the ground.
According to them, there were few cases which KIEMS kits failed to recognize voters but the alphanumeric mode of identifying voters worked best to replace the KIEMS.
Weather conditions were mentioned as a cause of slow transmission of results from few polling stations.
The observer mission, however, declined to respond on the illegitimacy of the election as claimed by the NASA coalition.
"Aas to whether the election was illegitimate or not, we will leave it to the mission to determine. Our work as observers was just to oversee the process," said Mbeki.
He also said that determining the legitimacy of the process is a political process, which was not part of the observer mission role in Kenya.
The African Union has also urged all members who feel aggrieved by the elections to follow required legal means to have their complaints addressed.
