Kisumu County residents spokesperson Audi Ogada has challenged the county government to ensure that all buildings are audited by the civil engineers to avoid emergencies.

Speaking today (Tuesday) at a Kisumu hotel to Journalists at a forum organised by civil auditors after a recent collapsed building in Carwash Gudka that left locals with injuries, Audi noted that weak buildings risked human life calling upon house audit engineers to protect the locals from emergencies that may cause locals their lives.

He added that the county government should take a quick step in seeing that weak constructed buildings are depleted.

According to him, house owners and the constructing engineers would be the first people to be held responsible when they do not audit the buildings stability and their safety.

“I challenge the county government to take a hastened step in seeing buildings that posed risk to human life are demolished before many lives are lost,

By doing that the locals will have safer and better places to live in without emergencies of evacuating collapsing buildings,” noted Audi.

Kisumu county senior civil Engineer Amos Ojwang’ also called upon proper measures in seeing all buildings especially storey-buildings are audited to see how stable the buildings are and safe.
