Nakuru Chairman of Commerce, Njuguna Kamau will carry an audit in all the government parastatals in bid to establish the origin of the workers.
Njuguna claimed that majority of the main companies in the area did not benefit the locals as they concentrated mainly on employing outsiders.
This, he claimed, was the reason why it was impossible to solve the unemployment crisis in the county.
Speaking to Journalists at Creek Safaris on Wednesday, Njuguna said they intend to carry out a head count in all the major companies in the area stating that the companies needed to add value to the residents.
“They do not even offer internship programs to the local residents but easily adopt unqualified people from other counties. We are calling on them to consider the local people first,” said Njuguna
He called on the youths in the area to engage in job creation so as to avoid the high rates of unemployment.
“We are appealing to youths to take advantage of all the funds that have been set aside to promote their economic status. This is the only way we can ensure that they adopt self sustainability while at the same time create job opportunities for the residents,” he said.
