Speaking to the press in his office in Kakamega On Wednesday, Oparanya said that the report by Ouko was 'unethical' because there was cases of loss of vital documents relevant in determining whether the money was actually lost.

According to Oparanya, his vast experience in auditing was enough to identify loopholes in the report by Ouko, citing that Ouko had failed to carry out alternative auditing since there was lack of documents to prove the loss of money.

"The recent report by Ouko is 'unethical' in terms of auditing. He cited the lack of documents to money allegedly stolen in public accounts and if so, he should have done alternative auditing," said Oparanya.

These remarks by Oparanya come at a time when the country has been rocked by huge losses of public money. Both the county and national governments have lost hundreds of millions of shillings, with the loss in Kilifi County being the most recent case.
