Third way Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot has launched a campaign for a Constitutional change that will have the number of MPs in both the Senate and National Assembly reduced to 194 from the current 416.The proposal is set to bring jitters to Members of Parliament as well as excite the public and lobby groups.The campaign being done on social media dubbed 'Reduce Parliament' is currently gaining popularity. 

Aukot is proposing a formulae that will see a woman elected in each county bring the total number of women to 94 in the National Assembly.“Our proposal as @thirdwaykenya is as follows: 1. Elect one man and one woman from the 47 counties = 94 MPs; 2. Elect one man and one woman from all 47 counties = 94 senators ; 3. Only 6 nominees from SIG to National Assembly. No nominees to Senate. Total legislators = 194,” Aukot said.There are currently a total of 67 senators and 349 members of the National Assembly of which 20 and 12 are nominated in the respective houses.Aukot proposes the nomination post be reduced to six and limited to the National assembly.
