Third Way Alliance leader Dr. Ekuru Aukot has hit out at President Uhuru Kenyatta for overlooking the importance of competence in constituting his second-term cabinet.

He said that the president's creation of the Chief Administrative Secretary offends the constitution and saddles the public with unnecessary burdens.

''I think the creation of the Chief Administrative Officer position offends article 132 of the constitution. The constitution says that creation of positions not in the constitution should be done following recommendations from the Public Service Commission. Another issue is that the president did not take into consideration competency,'' Ekuru Aukot said.

Ekuru Aukot was speaking tonight on a prime television programme.

He said that his Third Way Alliance Party would be weighing in on the cabinet list in the coming days.
