Thirdway Alliance of Kenya leader Ekuru Aukot has expressed his happiness with the outcome of the presidential petition by the Supreme Court that upheld the reelection of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

According to Aukot, his involvement during the proceedings of hearing the presidential petition was instrumental in defining the outcome of the Supreme Court ruling.

His sentiments were backed up by his lawyer Elias Mutuma who also agreed with the unanimous decision that found the petition lacking merit.

"We are pleased as a party on the outcome of the Supreme Court ruling that has upheld the reelection of Uhuru Kenyatta. In fact, our involvement in the petition helped define the outcome of the petition," reiterated Aukot.

He further called on leaders to help bring the country together since it is sharply divided along political lines.

However, he affirmed that his party will provide a good opposition to President Uhuru Kenyatta moving forward.

"It is sad to lose lives due to elections and all leaders should help unite the country. Moving forward, Thirdway Alliance will provide a strong opposition to the government led by President Uhuru Kenyatta," added Aukot.

Aukot made the remarks outside the Supreme Court after the reelection of President Uhuru Kenyatta on October 26 was upheld.
