ThirdWay Alliance party Leader Ekuru Aukot has remained non committal on his candidature in the approaching 2022 presidential race.
Speaking on KBC Radio Thursday, Aukot who seconded President Uhuru Kenyatta in the October 26 2018 presidential re-run, following opposition leader Raila Odinga's withdrawal, said that the decision lies in the hands of the party.
He noted that his goodwill for the nation might push him into taking another shot at the seat but added that it will depend on whether or not he will be backed by his bloc.
''My candidature in the coming presidential election depends on many factors including the ThirdWay Alliance's decision. However, we will notify Kenyans on our decision before the polls,'' said the leader who also called for the halt of the already heating up Kenyatta succession debate.
He stressed on the need for politicians to concentrate on serving Kenyans and fully engage each other in establishing frameworks for a better nation, including proposing avenues for the eradication of graft.
We have to give ourselves a break from politics as the country yet to fully recover from the previous political season. Its now the perfect time to address national shortcomings including corruption and national unity,'' he added.
