Police officers in Nairobi are probing an incident in which an Australian woman was on Thursday shot dead in Karen.

 According to The Star, Gabrielle Maina, a teacher Hillcrest Preparatory School, was sprayed with several bullets after she resisted surrendering her mobile phone to an unknown group of armed gangsters.

Police said that the woman was walking on Warai Road, before the gang members, who were riding on a motorbike ambushed.

 The gunmen grabbed the woman’s phone and escaped after shooting her.

The woman has just dropped her son at her son at a friend’s house before she met the ordeal.

Good Samaritans rushed her to the nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead upon arrival. 

Security officers are yet to arrest any suspect linked to the murder of the woman is said to hail from Armidale in Australia.

 Several persons including the administration of the school have joined the family in mourning the demise of the teacher.
