Speaking to Hivisasa.com, Micah Nyakundi who had acquired the vehicle from General Motors less than a month ago said he had parked the vehicle along a feeder road near his friend’s house after an overnight journey from Litein.

According to him, he had barely slept when he heard his vehicle hooting due to automatic alarms in it before he woke to know what was happening.

“I had parked the vehicle along this feeder road at around 2am after travelling from Litein in Kericho County. I barely slept before hearing my car hooting. This was evident that someone had broken into it and was ready to steal,” he said.

“We went with my friend and found a group of four men trying to start the car before calling for help from Mwembe residents. They had broken the Window screen using a big stone and were about to speed off,” he added.

The suspected thieves who were driving on unidentified vehicle were overpowered by the locals and drove off in their vehicle unnoticed.

Kisii OCPD who had visited the crime scene urged motorists to take precautions by parking their vehicles in a safe place to avert such incidents.

“It is fortunate that you managed to save the vehicle otherwise we would be taking of millions lost. As motorists, security starts with you. Ensure your vehicle is parked at a safe place before you go to attend other matters,” he said.
