Matungulu OCPD Joseph Chesirehas has urged the public to stop giving bribes to police officers in a bid to escape trial.
Cheshire who spoke on Tuesday in Tala town apportioned blame on the public for the high rise of corruption in the country by agreeing to bribe the overzealous police officers.
He noted that if the public desists offering the bribes to police officers then the country would have made a big step in fighting corruption.
“The public should be warned that any attempt to bribe officers to gain freedom will be dealt with. Just go to court and secure your release,” cautioned Cheshire.
He warned traffic police along Kangundo-Nairobi road to stop taking bribes as many drivers had lately complained of harassment from the officers asking for bribes where he said that if anyone is found guilty, they will face prosecution.
