Kisii Governor,James Ongwae has challenged members of the public to avoid staging demonstrations and protests over revised levies and business permit rates.
Ongwae has instead, asked traders and the general public to give dialogue a chance whenever they identified a problem in the Public Finance Bill relating to revenue collection policies outlined in that Bill.
Speaking at the Kisii Culture hall during the 2nd Devolution Dialogue, the Governor reminded members of the public that they had a constitutional right to give their views on revenue and taxation policies affecting their County through public participations platforms staged across the County's nine sub-counties.
"I know when everything goes wrong in the Public Finance Bill, everybody looks up to the Governor, yet all these issues are all consultative between the County Executive the Members of the County Assembly and the public to ensure everybody's views, however little have been captured in the Bill,"styated Ongwae.
The Governor, expressed concern that,he was a victim of the public rage and wrath over increments in business levies and rates, yet the public that is crucifying him was mandated to direct through public participation how the County Government collects revenue and at what rate based on the prevailing business and economic atmosphere.
Ongwae challenged members of the public to gauge their public participation in shaping their County's revenue collection policies, instead of sitting back accusing the County administration of allegedly imposing levies and rates on them without consultation.
