Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers have been told to make sure they avoid contracting diseases that can hamper their performance at work.
Speaking at Kenya Military Academy (KMA) in Lanet during the commissioning of over 60 special cadets, Chief of Defence Forces Samson Mwathethe called upon the soldiers to maintain discipline and good moral characters within the force in order to avoid getting into irresponsible behaviours that may affect their health and erode the integrity bestowed upon them and the KDF.
He also said that owing to immense support and goodwill of Kenyans, the KDF troops have been able to undertake successful operations within Somalia among other United Nations missions.
"The goodwill we have as KDF is the goodwill of the people of Kenya and as such we want to jealously safeguard the same by maintaining the highest standards of professionalism," he said.
60 cadet officers from the three branches of KDF were commissioned as three others were awarded for their exemplary performance.
