Aspiring Nyamira Governor Charles Mochama believes youths from the region will continue struggling economically if they continued to engage in divisive politics.
Speaking on Tuesday during an exclusive interview with this reporter, Mochama blamed youths for engaging in divisive politics by working with politicians who were out to disintegrate unity among them.
Mochama noted that a high percentage of youths was being used to promote clanism by a section of self-centered politicians.
“The future of our youths is at a great risk. Many of them are being used to propagate divisive politics, and this is a sign that they will continue struggling economically,” Mochama said.
“Their unity has been compromised and many of them are promoting clan based politics, an agenda being pushed by self-centered politicians. The young generation is crumbling and in few years’ time, the future our youths would have been dealt a severe blow due to divisions among them,” he said.
He urged the youths to come with a common agenda irrespective of their political persuasions and fight for their rights as enshrined in the new constitution.
“The new constitution gave our youths special rights which they should safeguard jealously. It is time that they shunned divisive politics among them and come up with a concrete agenda regardless of their political affiliations. They should not gamble their future with divisive politics,” he said.
Mochama also took a swipe on Governor John Nyagarama, who he accused of being behind the alleged divisions among the youths.
“Our youths cannot deny the existing divisions among them. Most of them are being used wrongly by the current regime to defend impunity. In fact, the divide and rule tactic is being used by the governor to quell mounting criticism from a section of youths,” he added.
