Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has asked the Maasai community to bear more children and avoid family planning for them to have numbers required in politics.

Speaking during a thanksgiving ceremony for the newly-elected ACK Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit, in Narok County, Moi sparked laughter when he asked the Maa community to shun family planning and embark on increasing their population.

“Kenyan politics today is all about numbers. Without numbers, you are nowhere. My message to you is that you increase your population. Those telling you about family planning should be your enemies,” Moi was quoted on Kenyans.

The former President’s son told Maa community that numbers will enable them have huge bargaining power while entering in political coalitions. 

The senator also used the occasion to defend President Uhuru Kenyatta on graft claims, saying  Uhuru is a good President who means well for this country. 

"I have grown up with him and he is my friend. He is not a thief but those around him are the problem,” Gideon was quoted on the Standard. 

Moi however added that the blame for the increased public funds theft in the country lies with individuals surrounding the Head of State, and asked him to deal with the individuals.
