Education CS Fred Matiang'i has cautioned parents against interfering with schools around them.
According to Matiang'i, there are some parents interfering with learning processes in some parts, but he has given a strong warning that necessary measures will be taken against them.
Matiang'i, who was addressing parents at Nyambaria High school in Nyamira County on Sunday during a book donation day said that his ministry has received information about some parents interfering with dducation in schools, further giving an example of fire tragedy that occured in Nyamagwa last week which affected three schools the parents are involved in the incident.
“As the ministry, we are not going to allow parents to interfere with education matters in schoos, the matter at Nyamagwa where some parents were involved in protesting that the principals should be transferred and instead have principals from withing the area will face the law,” said Matiang'i.
He further cautioned any parent planning to disrupt learning in any school, and urged the principals to report to the ministry once they have been threatened by parents.
“Parents, we need to support education, but this habit of threatening principals and teachers claiming that they do not come from the community is rubbish and let us stop that,“ cautioned Matiang'i.
