Majority Leader in the National Assembly Aden Duale has said that a stand-off in the legislation process between the National Assembly and the Senate should be avoided as much as possible.
Duale was speaking in Naivasha on Friday where Jubilee Coalition aligned parties have gone for a retreat, said that a stand-off between the two houses can lead to the government being dissolved.
"When we don't work together as the two institutions of parliament, that is a vote of no confidence against the government which can lead to dissolution," said Duale.
The majority leader cited several instances when the two houses had failed to agree on various pieces of legislation saying that it is not a good precedence.
"For example when the Senate had to go up to the Supreme Court over the County Revenue Allocation Bill was not a very good thing for the Parliament of Kenya," he added.
He asked the Jubilee members to work together in both houses to support the government's agenda. "We need to have a unity of purpose," he said.
