Public Service Vehicle (PSV) operators in Kibera have on Wednesday been warned against tampering with the speed governors that are fitted in their vehicles.
According to the Kilimani traffic commander Mr. Julius Ndungu, any motorist who will be found breaking traffic rules would be arrested and prosecuted.
“Over speeding is the main cause of accidents involving PSVs and tampering with these speed safety devices only makes the matter worse,” he remarked.
He further observed that some drivers are well known for tampering with the governors and added that a crackdown will be initiated in order to curb the senseless road accidents that can be avoided.
The officer further confirmed that the police were working closely with the National Transport and Safety Authority officers to inspect PSVs fitted with digital speed governors.
The Kilimani traffic commander is therefore urging drivers to conform to the traffic rules and regulations in a bid to ensure road safety for the good of all the road users.
