A NASA governor has faulted the Judiciary for nullifying his August 8, 2017 victory.
Homa Bay County governor Cyprian Awiti on Tuesday said it was wrong for his victory to be nullified because he won free and fair.
"The will of our people has been sacrificed due to corruption and incompetence within the Judiciary. People queued for long hours to vote during the August 8, 2017 polls and decided on how they wanted to be ruled in the next five year only to have their will killed by the court," said the ODM governor.
He accused Justice Joseph Karanja for nullifying his win.
"Today is a bad day for the people of Homa Bay. People went through hard times during the campaigns. Development in the county is now at risk because the courts which are supposed to do justice are the ones making unwise decision. I will not stop the fight. I am going to appeal the decision by the High Court which favored my opponent who lost fairly," he added.
Awiti's remarks comes after his victory was nullified on Tuesday on grounds that IEBC failed to conduct Homa Bay gubernatorial elections free and fair.
Awiti's rival Oyugi Magwanga had filed a petition to challenge IEBC's decision to announce Awiti as the validly elected governor in last year's polls.
