Nyali MP Hezron Awiti has criticised the Mombasa County government over failure to implement its manifesto.
The MP claimed the county government is just keen on spending money on lucrative trips and salaries, forgetting the core mandate that it was given by the people of Mombasa.
Speaking on Monday when he met leaders from various communities residing in Mombasa, Awiti also criticized Governor Hassan Joho for allegedly making the business environment unbearable, a move he said is costing the county, as many investors are now relocating to other counties in search of a better environment.
“The governor and his people do not have any agenda for this county. In fact it is an understatement to say that Joho is a failure for he has made Mombasa lose its past glory. If something is not urgently done, then we might not have a county in future,” said Awiti.
The Nyali legislature also rubbished claims that he was planning to deputise Joho in next year's election.
“I cannot even agree to be deputised by him (Joho) because he has failed the people of Mombasa,” said Awiti.
He affirmed his candidature for the county boss seat come next year.
