Nyali MP Hezron Awiti has claimed that Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has little knowledge about finance.
In an interview with the Standard, Awiti said he is best-suited to run the county as he has a good understanding of investments.
Awiti, who has declared interest in the Mombasa gubernatorial seat, said he has what it takes to correct the mistakes made by Joho.
“This county needs someone who understands investment like myself to stimulate the economy and reclaim its glory as a trading powerhouse in the region,” said Awiti.
“I have known Joho for a long time and can tell you that the man has never operated even a kiosk and is therefore not experienced in finance,” he added.
Awiti further noted that he has the desire to transform the lives of the poor of in the county, because he understands their needs, especially those of the youth.
“The less fortunate members should be cushioned from the vagaries of life in these difficult economic times. I ventured into politics to be a voice of the poor and improve their lives. Most of our youth are misused instead of being given guidance,” he said.
