Mombasa governor hopeful Hezron Awiti has outlined his development strategy aimed at boosting economic growth in the county.

Awiti said he plans to form Village College Management Committees which will make decisions on which projects to be prioritised.

According to the Star, the committees will comprise tribes living in a particular village and an investor who will advise on the economic viability of the projects.

“Ours will be a people power administration,” he told the Star in his office on Monday.

This, Awiti noted, will ensure full participation of residents in county affairs.

The Vibrant Democratic Party leader said development can be realised if there's proper planning as well as prioritising projects as per the recommendations of the village teams.

The Revolutionary Councils for Democracy and Development (RCDD), the Nyali MP added, will ensure all regions in the county get resources.

“The RCDD will be councils that will be elected by the people and will be the core vehicles that the people will use so as to be part and parcel of the county government’s governance,” he stated.

Awiti is among aspirants seeking to oust Governor Hassan Joho in the August 8 general election.
