In an interview with the Star, Awiti said that he is now planning for 2022 general election, adding that he will find ways of remaining  politically active ahead of the next general election.

The former Nyali lawmaker cautioned rivals who have written him off politically, saying they are in for a rude shock.

“Right now I have taken a break to meditate and plan  on my political future,” he said as quoted by the Star.

Awiti vowed to ensure that Governor Joho’s government is to taken task on matters development and use of public resources.

He said that he will not sit and watch governor Joho’s government mismanage the county in any way. “I will keep Joho and his people on ‘toes’ to ensure that he delivers on the promises he made to the people,” he said.

Awiti urged his supporters not to despair assuring them of a promising future ahead.

The former MP unsuccessfully contested for the Mombasa governor seat losing to Governor Hasan Joho who won re-election on ODM ticket.
