Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili popularly known as Babu Owino has urged National Super Alliance(NASA) leader Raila Odinga to place him as a CS in charge of the Ministry of Interior in his cabinet.
Speaking in Ruaraka on Sunday during a political rally,the lawmaker said that his first task would be to arrest CS Matiang'i for wrongfully detaining NASA leaders.He condemned incidences of harassment of the opposition following last week's Raila's swearing in,saying that the government should respect the will of the people.
"I urge Raila to appoint me the CS in charge of Interior so that I arrest Matiang'i for harassing our leaders,"said Owino.
The outspoken MP dared the police to arrest him,saying that he does not fear to be jailed,adding that the government can as well build a cell in his home.
The Jubilee administration since Wednesday last week outlawed the National Resistance Movement(NRM) for conducting the swearing in,and since then, three of the opposition leaders have been arrested including self proclaimed NRM general lawyer Miguna Miguna who is still in custody.
Matiang'i has since warned citizens against engaging in activities conducted by NRM,saying they will be treated as criminals and would face the full force of the law.
The government has also shut down three main television stations in the country for live broadcast during the swearing in which they term it as illegal and an act of treason meant to sabotage the government.
