Embakasi East lawmaker Babu Owino on Thursday led a number of Opposition MPs in attending parliament sittings despite a directive by top NASA leadership calling for a boycott of parliament.
Owino alongside Simba Arati (Dagoretti South), Oku Kaunya (Teso North) Jessica Mbalu (Kibwezi East) and Johnstone Naicca (Mumias West) attended the afternoon sitting against NASA leadership directive.
However, Naicca denied that he and other Opposition legislators had been directed by NASA principals to snub sittings.
"I was elected by the people of Mumias West to represent them in Parliament and I cannot be directed by anyone to do otherwise," Naicca stated.
The first time MP was responding to Majority Leader Aden Duale attacks on NASA MPs for absconding their responsibilities.
"The Opposition members have literally refused to fulfill their mandate of representing the electrorate. This is against the standing orders and we cannot be party to it," said Duale.
NASA maintains that the Parliament was 'illegally' opened by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday.
They argue it was supposed to be officially opened by the newly sworn in president after the repeat presidential election due next month.
