Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has defended himself after a CCTV footage leaked online allegedly showing himself and his security guards harassing and assaulting a parking attendant at a Nairobi plaza.

In the rather unclear footage, which was captured at night, a man said to be young lawmaker is seen coming out of his car and attacking the attendant while in the company of others said to be his bodyguards.

The incident is preceded by a forceful opening of the gate by one of the men after the gate man refuses to open it.

However, while reacting to the same on Monday, Owino rubbished the video saying that he was not in the city at the time when the crime was supposed to have happened, terming the same as a scheme employed by the ruling Jubilee Party to taint his image.

''Jubilee must give me a break. There is a video doing rounds in social media claiming that I harassed a parking attendant in Westlands during the weekend. I was in Mombasa at that time and such claims should be treated with a lot of contempt,'' he wrote on his Facebook page.

''People should stop blaming me for everything,'' he added.

According to the social media version of the same, the incident happened at Fortis Plaza Westlands after the lawmaker was questioned for failing to pay a parking fee.
