Embakasi East MP- elect Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino has termed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s decision to reconvene parliament as ‘unconstitutional’ and vowed not to attend.
According to the circular in the Kenyan Gazette, all MPs are expected to take oath of office on August 31st this year.
And in a quick rejoinder, Owino warned Uhuru against masquerading as president adding that all contestants should wait for Supreme Court ruling.
“Uhuru should not lecture us and that is what he should take note. He is not a president and we all have to wait Supreme Court,” he said.
Owino added: “I believe that Raila Odinga won an election and any attempt to subvert justice must be treated with caution.”
On the contrary, Jubilee team led by Aden Duale had vowed to attend initial parliament opening adding that they will elect the speaker as planned.
The outgoing University of Nairobi leader will be representing ODM party in the Assembly and is expected to be one of the most vocal MPs.
