In a recent video Babu was recorded referring to the President as 'mtoto wa mbwa'.

Babu was arrested and charged with subversion, incitement to violence and offensive conduct.

Shortly after his release, Babu Owino was arrested again by police over possession of illegal firearms and assault.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko came to the defense of the Head of State and issued a stern warning to the Embakasi East MP.

“Uhuru Kenyatta ni rais wa Kenya. Jubilee tuko na ma mafia, tuko na ma rasta wa jubilee. Tuko na MCA wajuaji kama Mark Ndung’u. Kama anataka kudungwa, tutamua Mark Ndungu akudunge, tutatuma ma rasta wa jubilee wakudunge, (Uhuru Kenyatta is the President of Kenya. In Jubilee we have mafia, we have rasta men, and we have cunning MCAs like Mark Ndung’u. If he wants to be stabbed, we will send Mark Ndung’u to stab you. We will send Jubilee rasta men to stab you),” Sonko said.

Babu Owino posted the video on his Facebook page and issued his response.

The Embakasi East MP is awaiting to appear in court over his charges.
