Paul Musyimi, a parliamentary aspirant in the by-election on Thursday told Babu to join the Jubilee Party and face him during the party's primary elections to select a candidate who will vie for the seat on the ruling party's ticket.

"I have what it takes in this by-election," Musyimi said during an interview on Radio Jambo.

"But my message to my brother Babu Owino is that he should leave ODM, join Jubilee and we face off during the primaries. If he defeats me I will support and campaign for him. ODM is not a strong house," he added.

Babu lost his MP seat on March 7, 2018, after High Court Judge Joseph Sergon ruled that he did not win the parliamentary seat fairly.

Justice Sergon said the complainant during the petition, Jubilee's Francis Mureithi convinced the court that the election in Embakasi East was not conducted in accordance with the law.

Judge Sergon said that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials who oversaw the election were intimidated.

Babu has since filed an appeal against the judge's ruling.
