Paul Ongili aka Babu Owina has been the topic of discussion for a long time now.
Just recently, the Embakasi East MP saw his nullified August 2017 election win overturned thanks to the three Court of Appeal judges; Justices Mohammed Warsame, Daniel Musinga and Kathurima M'Inoti.
Also, news has been going around that Mr Owino wants to buy Wazito FC, a Kenyan club on sale. The club is believed to be going for Sh11 Million.
However, Mr Owino in an interview with Citizen TV’s Citizen Extra show this week revealed that the welfare of his constituency is a priority for him at the moment, and that he does not want to buy any club as rumors say.
“Purchasing a football club is not my priority now; I want to help my people,” he said.
“I would rather use that money elsewhere, instead of buying a football club. I would rather donate a part of that money to the footballers; at least to help them provide for themselves. I would also prefer using the money in educating my constituents and also help the youth empower themselves,” said Babu Owino.
His revelation was after reports claiming that he was eyeing to purchase Wazito FC which is at position 16 with 17points from 18 games of the Kenya Premier League (KPL).
Sources believe Mr Owino would have coughed between Sh8 million and Sh11 million.
He declined these allegations, and even refused to answer where he gets his money from.
He said, “I will never and shall never discuss anything about my wealth. Anyone with a problem about my wealth, the DCI is open and the EACC is open, go to them.
“My wealth comes from heaven,” he joked.
