Embakasi East MP Babu Owino (ODM) has been elected Secretary General of the Kenya Young Parliamentarians Association (KYPA).
The youthful lawmaker will serve in the position between 2018 and 2022 when another poll will be conducted to elect new MPs.
He will work alongside Jubilee's Johnson Sakaja who was elected Chairman of the association. Sakaja is deputised by Mwala MP Vincent Musasu while Babu is deputy to Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all members of Parliament (Senators and members of National Assembly) for electing me as the Secretary General and the official spokesperson of Kenya Young Parliamentarians Association. God bless Kenya." Babu who joined active politics after serving as Students Organisation of Nairobi University (SONU) Chairman for a long time said.
He made the revelation at a press conference where the results of KYPA elections were announced in Nairobi.
Others elected to serve as executive committee members in the association include Nominated Senator and former Nairobi Women Representative aspirant Millicent Omanga, Kilome MP Thuddeus Nzambia Kithua and Mwingi West lawmaker Charles Nguna.
The team will be expected to champion the interests of young parliamentarians in the Senate and the National Assembly that is full of seasoned and re-known politicians.
