Youthful MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino was clearly the darling of NASA supporters as the opposition revived its campaigns to push for reforms within the electoral body, IEBC.

It was Raila Odinga’s first public rally after announcing his withdrawal from October 26th elections, a move he said would allow the IEBC rethink of conducting credible elections.

Supporters on the opposition chanted pro – Babu Slogans as the leaders made entry to Mama Ngina Drive for the rally, with some struggling to reach him in the crowded field.

“I want to invite Babu to speak. He was arrested by Uhuru Kenyatta and the government should be ashamed of such nonsense,” said Odinga, as Owino moved in to address the gathering.

While addressing the crowd, Owino urged opposition supporters to push for reforms, making reference to powerful regimes in Africa that have crumbled before.

“My fellow Kenyans, changes do not come easily and we have seen that in Libya, Burkina Faso and even in Ivory Coast,” He said, amid excitement from the crowd.

The populist Embakasi East legislator is facing a host of incitement cases in court and had to spend three days under police custody recently for allegedly abusing President Uhuru Kenyatta.
