Milimani magistrate court has ordered the release of SONU chairman Babu Owino on bail.

Owino was among the 8 MPs who were arrested for hatemongering. Led by his lawyer Edwin Sifuna, Owino was granted bail pending his plea.

"The prosecution has not provided any sufficient reasons to deny the accused bail," said the magistrate.

The ruling by the magistrate came barely hours after Cord principal Raila Odinga gave the government a 24 hours ultimatum to release Cord and Jubilee MPs.
