Kiambu women on Monday took to the streets condemning the utterance by Embakasi East MP Babu Owino over his statement directed at former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta, President Uhuru Kenyatta's mother.

The women in their hundreds demanded an apology from the controversial MP whose sentiment has elicited mixed reactions across the political divide.

But even as the demonstrations were going on, the flamboyant Babu Owino took to his twitter handle to react to the demo which had been staged against him.

"Kiambu Town and Githurai demonstrations have today shown the world that they are best in unpeaceful demonstrations," Owino said in a statement on his twitter handle.

Earlier, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa, called for the arrest of the lawmaker even as he warned that Kiambu residents and especially women will personally go for the controversial MP should the police fail to arrest him.

Nairobi Women Rep. Esther Passaris has also condemned Owino's utterance even as he apologised to the former First Lady and her family over the insult.
