Embakasi MP Babu Owino has disclosed his plans for this year 2018.
The plans are mainly focused on improving the welfare of the young people in the country.
Owino, who is one of the youthful legislators in the 12th Parliament, vowed to sponsor two bills; one on youth empowerment and the other on education.
Speaking to the Standard on Wednesday, the MP pledged to draft a bill seeking to ensure the youth and women get access to government credit through subsidised fee and without many restrictions.
"The collateral required to access the loans should be reviewed as it has locked some deserving youth and women who are unable to meet the set requirement," he said.
The other bill, Owino said, will push for an increment in the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) cash to all college and university students.
"This will enable students who pass in secondary school education get a chance to pursue higher education," said Owino, who is a former university student leader.
He also disclosed plans to initiate legislation to push for a waiver on medical bills for patients in all public hospitals.
"I will lobby colleagues to support this legislation to ensure hospitals do not withhold bodies over fee arrears," Owino said.
And for the people of Embakasi East, the first-time legislator said: "I will liaise with the county government in constructing and building roads and provision of clean water."
"I will also ensure bursaries issued through the Constituency Development Fund reach needy students," Owino added.
