On Monday the High court ordered for a recount of all the ballots cast in the Embakasi East constituency poll carried out as part of the General Election on August 8, 2017.
The order for the recount was granted in response to an application made by the petitioner Francis Mureithi who lost to the Orange Democratic Movement’s Babu Owino on a Jubilee ticket.
The exercise began on Tuesday evening and a confident Babu Owino took to his Facebook page to announce his early lead against his competitor Mr Francis Mureithi.
"So far I’m leading in the recount with 12000 votes followed closely by my unworthy opponent with 4123 votes," reads Babu's post.
However, there were mixed reactions from the post with pro-Babu supporters urging him to keep vigil to ensure no votes are stolen in the recount while pro-Mureithi supporters urged Babu to step down his high horse as the recount continues.
Mureithi in his application made the case that the illegibility and discrepancies on the result forms made it difficult to ascertain what the true results were.
